PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES

The two easiest options to get to Tenuta Larnianone are via fights into Florence or Rome. Depending on where you’re coming from and budget, one may be better for you than the other. Our recommendation is to rent a car and drive from either city as it gives you an opportunity to explore Italy along the way as well as the freedom throughout the week to come and go from the property. If car rental or driving in a foreign country is something you prefer to avoid, we can offer a shuttle service for guests arriving in Florence or Rome. Shuttles can be booked through our wedding planner. Details on all are below.

Flying from the U.S. to Italy typically is a red-eye flight so please consider the length of travel when making your bookings. We often fly into one of the two cities, stay the night, and the drive the next day if we aren’t up for the long haul or can’t get sleep on the plane. List of recommended flights can be found below.

Arrivals through Florence

Driving - 1 and a half hour drive to the estate. From Florence you have the option of taking a “autostrada” (highway) or a more scenic route through the hills and villages of Tuscany. Google maps works well in Italy and can provide suitable directions.

Shuttle - Prices are one way between Florence Airport and Tenuta Larnianone.

1-2 Passengers (Sedan): €310

4-6 Passengers (Van): €375

Arrivals through Rome

Driving - 2 and a half hour drive to the estate. From Rome the quickest mode is via the “autostrada” (highway). Upside to this is they have the best rest stops and snacks, one of Ben’s favorite things in Italy…

Shuttle - Prices are one way between FCO and Tenuta Larnianone.

1-2 Passengers (Sedan): €770

4-6 Passengers (Van): €880

Car Rental

Renting a car in Italy is relatively easy. We advise that unlike in America where a large SUV sounds great it can be problematic on the small roads of old villages and cities due to the size, so don’t go to big.

We recommend using one of the more well known and reputable car rental companies like a Hertz, Avis, Europcar or SIXT and make sure to get comprehensive coverage. Your cc or personal insurance usually does not cover driving abroad.

Something to consider is GPS with your car rental. Aurora and I have not had any serious problems relying on our phones’ navigation apps but we often encounter poor reception issues outside of the larger cities in Italy. We prepare for this by loading maps and destinations when on WIFI for offline service moments in google maps. If you are not familiar with this method of using GPS and are going plan to explore the countryside and want the added security we recommend considering getting the GPS with the car rental. Google maps is also sometimes not up to date on locations in Europe.
